As the Paradise Canyon Elementary and LCHS 7/8 school psychologist, my primary objective is to help children to succeed. I work with students, parents, and teachers to ensure academic, emotional, behavioral and social competence. My services include:
I hold a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California where I studied Psychology and received a minor in Teaching Profession. I also studied Cognitive, Learning and Memory, and Abnormal Psychology at the University of Sussex, England. I have a Master of Science in Counseling with an option in School Psychology from California State University Los Angeles. I hold a California Pupil Personnel Services Credential with Advanced Authorization in School Psychology. I am also a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP #3245) and I have an Autism Specialist Certification.
I have been passionately involved in the field of education my entire life. Raised by an educator, I have been volunteering in the classroom since I was a small child. As an adult, I was a substitute teacher while I completed my teaching credential. I worked as an elementary school teacher for several years prior to starting a masters program for school psychology. I have been with the La Canada Unified School District as a school psychologist since 2005. In addition to my work for this district, I teach graduate level courses in counseling at Loyola Marymount University.
- Administration and interpretation of intelligence, achievement, social and emotional, and perceptual and motor development tests.
- Identifying disabilities and evaluating eligibility for special education services.
- Preparing psycho-educational reports, recommending placement for pupils, and developing individual educational plans.
- Counseling in group and individual settings.
- Training and consulting with teachers and staff.
